First, Beckett Authentication Services evaluates the autograph to determine authenticity. Once the autograph is deemed authentic, it is then graded on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the best.
Next, the trading card is evaluated to ensure it is authentic and unaltered. As part of the grading process the card is graded on four key categories: centering, corners, edges, and surface. These four subgrades are weighted to determine the final overall grade, which uses a half-point scale from 1-10, with 10 being the best. (Note, cards produced prior to 1980 will not receive the report card grade and will reflect a single grade.)
Finally, the trading card is encapsulated in a hard-plastic tamper-evident case. When necessary, a custom inner sleeve is used to ensure the perfect fit within the holder. All of the pertinent card and autograph information is included on the label and both grades are clearly displayed.
Cards that have autographs which have been certified directly by the manufacturer can be submitted directly to Beckett Grading Services.
